NAPOLI: STRONG FINISH MIGHT KEEP GATTUSO

Napoli manager GennaroGattuso might still be in the dugout at the club when the new season starts in August according to the publication from the stables of La Repubblicain Italy. It was revealed that a strong finish to the season could aid Gattusoto sign a new deal at the club.

Gattuso and Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis didn’t see eye-to-eye in the winter when the club was going through a rough patch but things have changed since the return to fitness of the club’s key players. Under the watchful eyes of Gattuso, Napoli are one of the form teams in the Italian Serie A over the last two months and are favourites to secure a Champions League spot that was unlikely during the winter time.

The aforementioned report disclosed that both Gattuso and De Laurentiis have not closed the door on repairing their relationship with Napoli currently enjoying a good run of form in the league.

Several managers have been linked with the Napoli job in recent weeks. Former manager Maurizio Sarri has been mentioned. In addition to Sarri, the likes of ex-AS Roma manager Luciano Spalletti, Empoli boss AlessioDionisi and many more have been touted as potential replacement for Gattuso whose contract expires in June.

Gattuso and his Napoli players saw off Torino away from home in their last league game on Monday to put themselves in a fantastic position to qualify for Champions League football in the new season. Napoli won 2-0 thanks to goals from French player TiemoueBakayoko and Victor Osimhen. The two goals came within two first half minutes and it led to the victory that took Napoli to third place.

Napoli have a relatively good five fixtures to end this Italian Serie A season thus making them one of the favourites to bag a Champions League spot. Atalanta, Juventus, AC Milan and Lazio are all in the running for a Champions League spot.

With the current football season coming to an end, there’s only one thing that comes to the mind of football fans and it is the fact that the transfer window is closing in on us quickly. Clubs across Europe are now compiling their lists of the players they would like to sign already so that they do not have to waste so much time when the window finally opens.

One of the latest transfer rumours currently making the rounds is the one that sees Premier League duo Chelse and Arsenal battle Napoli for the signing of impressive and highly-rated young star Kaio Jorge. The superb Brazilian young talent has been attracting a lot of interest from various clubs due to his outstanding abilities and will likely cause a bidding war between those clubs in the summer.

Jorge, 19, plays for Brazilian club Santos FC where he has been making waves and shinning thanks to his fascinating footballing skills. In the past weeks, he has been scouted by Premier League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea, with the Gunners and the Blues both interested in snapping up the teenage sensation as quickly as possible before the list of interested clubs grows further longer.

However, it looks like Napoli have discovered the raw talent and would also like to make him a priority signing when the summer transfer window finally arrives and allows clubs to initiate and conclude their transfer businesses.

Carlos Neto, Kaio Jorge’s agent recently revealed in an interview that there are truly several clubs interested in the young striker and that the player himself would cherish the adventure of playing in Eurppe one day.

Neto’s comments clearly suggest that his client would be very interested in testing himself in Europe, giving all interested clubs the green light to make a move for the young attacker when the summer window allows for that to happen.

HERRERA TARGETS ANOTHER WIN OVER NAPOLI

Midfielder Yangel Herrera was one of the heroes for Granada who took a giant step towards the round of 16 in the Europa League following the win over Napoli at home. The Venezuelan player opened the scoring for Granada at the Estadio de Los Carmenosbefore fellow South American star Kenedy added a second goal in two minutes. Kenedy had capitalised on some sloppy play from Napoli attacker Marco Politanoto double the advantage for the hosts on 21 minutes.

The damage was done to Napoli in just two first half minutes thereby leaving the Italian Serie A giants on the blink of elimination ahead of the second leg in Naples. Napoli will have to score three goals without reply in the second leg at home if they want to move past Granada into the round of 16 without extra time or penalties. A Granada goal in the second leg of their round of 32 Europa League tie means that Napoli will need to score four goals to qualify for the round of 16 of the competition.

GATTUSO SET FOR CONTRACT RENEWAL

Napoli are happy with the work that manager Gennaro Gattuso has done and they are ready to reward him with a new contract according to the latest reports coming out of the media in his native Italy. The specific publication from Gianluca Di Marzio said that two of the brightest managers in the Italian Serie A have been penciled down for contract renewals. Gianluca Di Marzio is a well respected Italian journalist who covers European football extensively and he has revealed that Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi and Napoli manager GennaroGattuso are close to signing respective new deals. Simone Inzaghi and GennaroGattuso are some of the good managers in the Italian top flight.

GennaroGattuso underlined his credentials as the man to end the wait for the Scudetto at Napoli after he led the team to a resounding victory at home to Fiorentina at the weekend. Napoli won the game 6-0 and Gattuso rightfully got some plaudits for the performance produced by his team in their last league game on Sunday. Gianluca Di Marzio said that Napoli have already offered GennaroGattusoa new contract for sometime and that the ex-Italian international midfielder is ready to sign the contract offer on the table. GennaroGattuso led Napoli to third place on the league table after the big win over Fiorentina over the weekendwith 34 points in addition to leading the club into the round of 32 in the Europa League.

NAPOLI RECORD SIGNING MISSES MILAN DEFEAT

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen was conspicuously absent as Napoli suffered their second league defeat of the season at home to league leaders AC Milan at the San Paolo on Sunday night. Super Eagles of Nigeria international Osimhen was sorely missed as Napoli fell 3-1 to the Rossoneri.

Osimhen missed the game because of the shoulder injury that he sustained while on international duty with Nigeria. The young striker sustained the injury during the 2022 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers with Sierra Leone in Benin City, Nigeria. He scored one of the goals as the Super Eagles shot into a 4-0 lead in the first half. Victor Osimhen was replaced by Paul Onuachuafter he suffered the shoulder problem.

Porto captain Danilo Pereira says he would be a good fit for the English Premier League. He has described the League as the best in the world as he continues to be linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium. Danilo is also attracting interest from the Serie A. Napoli have been mentioned in the media as one of the clubs interested in the player, but the former Parma player has set his sight on a move to England.

The Porto midfield anchor man has been identified as one of Arsenal’s main transfer targets this summer, according to several reports from Portugal, and he is confident that his style of play would suit that of Mikel Arteta’s side.

NAPOLI WANT EVERTON, ALLAN TO JOIN EVERTON

Serie A side Napoli want Everton Soares, hoping the Gremio star would join them this summer. However, the player’s agent has come out to deny reports of talks almost reaching a conclusion. The Brazilian’s father confirmed that they were in talks with the Italian side and that the club presented a project to them having been granted permission to have meetings with the player.

The agent Marcio Cruz told Italian outlets that he read lots of reports exaggerating the state of things between the player’s rep and the club. He said some outlets already deemed Everton a Napoli man, forcing him to come out to clear things up. Cruz agreed that Napoli were a top side in Europe, always competing for the Scudetto and qualifying for the Champions League. He knows the club has a good tradition and following but then the fine details of the deal were yet to be completed. In a season that has been hampered by the Corona Virus, he wants to be clear that the deal is not over the line yet.

KOULIBALY FLATTERED BY UNITED INTEREST

Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has admitted he is flattered by the constant speculation linking him with summer move to major European clubs. The likes of Manchester United, Barcelona have all indicated interest in the player. Koulibaly has stated that he wants to continue improving his game with the Partenopei.

According to reports from Football Italia the likes of United, Chelsea, Barcelona and Arsenal have all been credited with an interest in the commanding central defender, who told Rai Sport he finds ample motivation at Napoli and he wants to continue to develop with the club. He stated that he wants to prove that Napoli belong among the elite in the country.

ANCELOTTI COULD RETURN TO ENGLAND

Carlo Ancelotti has been sacked by Napoli and other than his mildly successful stint at Chelsea, the Italian seems to be negating he previous works the ore he ages.

His past successes have been the reason he is almost never out of job no matter how sourly his previous job ended. His stint at Bayern left much to desire while at Chelsea he didn’t still last up to three years.
His best record remains with AC Milan, the squad that lost to Liverpool in the Champions League final and got their revenge two years later.

Failure for Napoli, Match Draw at SPAL

Napoli could not gain ground on Serie A as they were held back by a 1-1 draw in a struggling SPAL. Juventus and Inter Milan are known to be the pacesetters for Serie A in which Napoli was supposed include themselves after the supposed-to-win match. Though Arkadiusz Milik put them in front very early in the first half of the match, soon the side for Carlo Ancelotti fastened themselves by getting a strike from Jasmin Kurtic. Fabian Ruiz, who played as a substitute hit the post for the visitors because they were trying to push for the winner in the second half. This is the third time when the home side avoided getting defeated in this season.

Juventus and Inter Milan, who are positioned at first and second place respectively, were surprised to see draws made by Parma and Lecce, but the draw which came from Napoli left them at the 4th position with 17 points in the table. Team AS Roma shifted to 5th position after winning the match against AC Milan with 2-1 at Stadio Olimpico to carry on with the crisis of visitors. Edin Dzeko was able to lead the hosts from the front during the first half of the match before Theo Hernandez drew with the level of Milan in the second half.
