Maurizio Sarri believes in Napoli Strikers

Maurizio Sarri believes that Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain is comparable to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The latter have been regarded as the best players in the world for some time. They have shared the FIFA Ballon d’Or award between each other for almost a decade. The gulf in class between these two players and the rest has been so immense that managers have been trying to promote their players as the solution. Higuain, though, has been in good form throughout 2015 and has carried on into 2016 as well. The striker’s 27 goals in just 29 league appearances mean that Napoli have regained their title challenge.

SARRI CURSES HIS LUCK

Maurizio Sarri believes Napoli were unlucky to fail to win against Milan. Napoli would have topped the Italian Premier Division table if that Milan game had earned them full 3 points, but Milan held them on 1-1, letting them get just one point and ensuring there is no change in the top two positions in the table.

It was only the previous week that Napoli had lost their top spot when they had been downed by Juventus by 0-1 in the head to head clash in Turin.

Napoli have managed to top the Italian Serie A following a convincing 3-1 win over Sassuolo.

The victory was achieved thanks to a brace from Gonzalo Higuain in addition to another former Real Madrid player –José Callejón – also scoring in the game. Even though Napoli have been completely convincing in the 2015-16 season, their performances have gone along well to produce results largely because of the presence of Gonzalo Higuain. The Argentine striker has achieved a new dimension in terms of scoring. He may have been brought to the club by Rafa Benitez, but Higuain has unlocked a huge asset within himself.

A few days ago Napoli faced off with As.Roma for a Serie A match and the game concluded in a goal-less draw as neither team managed to score a single goal and at the end of it all, both sides had to settle with 1 point each.

However, even though the scoreboard was displaying after 90 minutes had passed, it was clear that 1 team deserved to have won the game and it was the home team, Napoli. When the match reached it’s end, statistics showed that Napoli had launched a total of 12 shots with 60% possession of the ball meanwhile As.Roma could only muster 4 shots and none of them were on target.
As.Roma managed to not concede a single goal and they went home with 1 point as well did Napoli but Maurizio Zarri was not satisfied with the result as the coach of Napoli had a few things to say which he made it clear after the game reached it’s end.

Are Napoli on their way to the Serie A title?

Napoli haven't won the Serie A crown since 1990 but stand an excellent chance of going all the way and claiming a third Italian title this season. Maurizio Sarri's men are joint-second in the table and sit just four points behind current leaders Inter Milan.

While they are without a win in their last two games, Napoli have shown plenty of courage, quality and enthusiasm throughout the early stages of the campaign and will be quietly confident of picking up a much-needed victory at Atlanta on Sunday before the winter break. If they can maintain this form throughout the second half of the season, Napoli could pip their rivals to the title.

Crucially, Napoli have performed well against their nearest competitors this season - which could come in handy towards the business end of the campaign. In fact, there are only two teams who have picked up all three points against Napoli so far this term - Sassuolo and Bologna.

Milan manager Sinisa Mihajlovic has claimed that his team did not deserve any points after their poor performance against archrivals Inter Milan in the previous outing.

The game ended in a 1-0 defeat and the club are back to square one as far as form is concerned. A win against Palermo will put things back on track. It is especially important given that AC Milan can take advantage of the wobble in form shown by champions Juventus. Since only three spots are available for the Champions League places, Milan have to be in contention from the word go.

Manchester City has suffered a huge blow in their pre-season journey as they lost 4-2 against Stuttgart. This is certainly not the way that the Premier League club wanted to finish their pre-season as Manuel Pellegrini and his players will be entering the 2015-16 season hoping to take the title away from Chelsea but this dream might be out of the reach of Manchester City as they were exposed after conceding 4 goals in the opening 45 minutes of the match.
