CAVANI CHOSES NAPOLI OVER INTER

New Napoli signing Edinson Cavani has revealed how he had turned down an offer to join Inter Milan to join Napoli. The Uruguay international credits the fans as the principal reason for joining the Azzurri.

"I preferred Napoli to Inter because of the support shown by the fans and the general public," Cavani said to TuttoNapoli.net.

"It is also bonus to work with [Ezequiel] Lavezzi and [Fabio] Quagliarella. We will form a great attacking line-up," he added.

The 23-year-old moved from Palermo to the Azzurri for €17 million.

NAPOLI CHASE TONI

Napoli chief Riccardo Bigon has confirmed their interest in Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni.

Toni spent last season on-loan at Roma.

“You cannot contest Toni’s talent, while Fred played in the Champions League with Lyon and is now in Brazil,” Bigon told Radio Marte.

“We are following many options, including overseas, and keeping a close eye on alternatives. Before buying anyone, we will sell.

“Vagner Love has different characteristics to Toni and Fred, so it would change our style of football. The type of player we’re looking for is a pure hitman.”
