Maurizio Sarri believes in Napoli Strikers

Maurizio Sarri believes that Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain is comparable to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The latter have been regarded as the best players in the world for some time. They have shared the FIFA Ballon d’Or award between each other for almost a decade. The gulf in class between these two players and the rest has been so immense that managers have been trying to promote their players as the solution. Higuain, though, has been in good form throughout 2015 and has carried on into 2016 as well. The striker’s 27 goals in just 29 league appearances mean that Napoli have regained their title challenge.

Only a few weeks ago, it looked like Napoli would not be able to keep in touch with Juventus. However, they have now reduced the deficit to just three points with nine matches left.Sarri and his team are just hoping for a slipup from the reigning champions in order to take advantage. Napoli could have been in front had it not been for a run of three league matches without a win in February. They have now since recovered and returned to winning ways. A 3-1 win against Chievo and a 1-0 win against Palermo have put them within touching distance of Juventus.

“I don’t know and I’m not interested if Higuain was angry.I only care that he played really well. He’s in another class and influences the team, just like Lionel Messi influences Barcelona and Cristiano Ronaldo influences Real Madrid. We’re not at the same level as those teams but he is at the same level as those players,” said Sarri after his striker scored in the win against Chievo. Higuain has responded by claiming that Sarri is like a father figure to him. Higuain has gone on to a new level since the arrival of Sarri.
