NAPOLI: STRONG FINISH MIGHT KEEP GATTUSO

Napoli manager GennaroGattuso might still be in the dugout at the club when the new season starts in August according to the publication from the stables of La Repubblicain Italy. It was revealed that a strong finish to the season could aid Gattusoto sign a new deal at the club.

Gattuso and Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis didn't see eye-to-eye in the winter when the club was going through a rough patch but things have changed since the return to fitness of the club's key players. Under the watchful eyes of Gattuso, Napoli are one of the form teams in the Italian Serie A over the last two months and are favourites to secure a Champions League spot that was unlikely during the winter time.

The aforementioned report disclosed that both Gattuso and De Laurentiis have not closed the door on repairing their relationship with Napoli currently enjoying a good run of form in the league.

Several managers have been linked with the Napoli job in recent weeks. Former manager Maurizio Sarri has been mentioned. In addition to Sarri, the likes of ex-AS Roma manager Luciano Spalletti, Empoli boss AlessioDionisi and many more have been touted as potential replacement for Gattuso whose contract expires in June.

Gattuso and his Napoli players saw off Torino away from home in their last league game on Monday to put themselves in a fantastic position to qualify for Champions League football in the new season. Napoli won 2-0 thanks to goals from French player TiemoueBakayoko and Victor Osimhen. The two goals came within two first half minutes and it led to the victory that took Napoli to third place.

Napoli have a relatively good five fixtures to end this Italian Serie A season thus making them one of the favourites to bag a Champions League spot. Atalanta, Juventus, AC Milan and Lazio are all in the running for a Champions League spot.
