NAPOLI PLAY DRAW WITH SASSUOLO

Napoli has started the season not as good as they would have wanted and the draw with Sassuolo further dented their hopes of lifting the Serie A this term.

They were set to get a win but a late goal from Gregoire Defrel forced Napoli to share points with their visitors – their third straight stalemate in all competitions.

Lorenzo insigne got the match opener, cutting in from the left before his deflected striker got past the visiting shot stopper Andrea Consigli in the 42nd minute. After the break, Sassuolo’s performance got better. They had suffered four straight losses in the league, and were condemned yet another loss to Napoli. However, Marcello Gazzola sent in a nice cross from the right that Defrel volleyed to the back of the net. The late effort ensured both teams shared the spoils equally.

In another game, Serie A title hopefuls Inter Milan defeated 10-man Fiorentina team 4-2. New Inter boss Stefano Pioli got his first victory since taking over after the sack of Frank De Boer. The win is a good comeback after losing to Hapoel Be’er Sheva in the Europa League. The loss saw them exit the continental tournament, despite going two goals up first.

Inter grabbed three quick goals to go 3-0 before the 20th minute. Marcelo Brozovic – a goal scorer in the last Europa League game, Antonio Candreva, and Mauro Icardi – another goal scorer in the Europa League clash with the Israeli side.

Nikola Kalinic scored one for Fiorentina and Josip Ilicic got the second to end the game 4-2. The victory for Inter means they are the first club to defeat Fiorentina in seven league games.
