Manchester City sustained a surprising 4-2 defeat in their last pre-season friendly match

Manchester City has suffered a huge blow in their pre-season journey as they lost 4-2 against Stuttgart. This is certainly not the way that the Premier League club wanted to finish their pre-season as Manuel Pellegrini and his players will be entering the 2015-16 season hoping to take the title away from Chelsea but this dream might be out of the reach of Manchester City as they were exposed after conceding 4 goals in the opening 45 minutes of the match.

In the heart of the defence of Manchester City was Vincent Kompany as he played along with EliaquimMangala and everything turned into a disaster for the defensive duo as they struggled trying to keep the opposition away from their own half.

It only took 15 minutes for this partnership to be broken in as FilipKostic picked up a ball that was slipped in through the middle and neither Kompany nor Mangala got the ball in time as this allowed Kostic to collect it and slam it past Joe Hart.

The rest of the goals continued arriving in a quick fashion as the players of Manchester City just seemed to be off of their game and couldn’t keep up with the German outfit.

EliaquimMangala is a French defender who was signed back in August of 2014 as the player that could perform alongside Vincent Kompany in the center of the defence but Mangala has not proven his worth. Mangala was a disaster in this match and in the previous season, he only made a few amount of appearances as it seems like he still hasn’t earned the full support and confidence from the manager despite having offloaded €32 million in luring him away from Porto.

The opening match of the season for Manchester City is against West Bromwich Albion and if Manchester City wants to seriously contend for the title, a few changes and signings need to be done.

This approaching season might be last one of Manuel Pellegrini and if he is unable to make a genuine charge for the title it’s very likely that the Chilean manager will be sacked.

This 4-2 defeat is a wake-up call for Manchester City, especially for Manuel Pellegrini who has his job in serious risk.
