CAVANI WILL STAY

Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has said that he will not leave the club in the summer even if they failed to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Edinson Cavani has been linked with a move away from Napoli all through the season, and the rumours have certainly not been helped by the good performances of the striker in the Champions League this season. He almost helped Napoli get past Chelsea in the last 16 of the Champions League, while he is the second top scorer in the division with 19 league goals to his credit.

NAPOLI TRIO WOULD COST FORTUNE

Aurelio de Laurentiis, the Television producer, owner and President of Italian football giants SSC Napoli has stated that his club’s star trio of Uruguayan Edinson Cavani, Slovakian Marek Hamsik and Argentine Ezequiel Lavezzi are worth well over € 200 million.

These three players form the very backbone of The Blues side and this was visible in the way they decimated the Chelsea defense in their 3-1 UEFA Champions League win over the English club at home in the Stadio San Paolo.

MARADONA WANTS NAPOLI RETURN

Former Napoli forward Diego Maradona has come out with the statement saying that he would love to return to Napoli as a manager.

Maradona is regarded as a legend at Napoli having played for them during the late 1980s. He is worshipped at Napoli so much so that the club has even retired the shirt number used by the Argentine during his stay in Italy.

GARGANO HAPPY WITH SEASON SO FAR

Napoli midfielder Walter Gargano has said that he is extremely happy with what Napoli have achieved this season, but says that there's still a lot more that the club can do.

Napoli have been extremely brilliant in the Champions League, although the same cannot be said of their domestic form. It is because they have been focusing entirely on the Champions League and have been rewarded with a last 16 tie against Chelsea.

HAMSIK INVOKES CITY WIN

Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik has said that Napoli need to repeat the same kind of performance they put in against Manchester City to have any scent of victory against Juventus. Napoli will be facing the League leaders during the week, and it is a match Hamsik is looking forward to very much.

FOCUS ON SERIE A

Napoli old-boy Fabio Cannavaro insists that the club should enjoy the Champions League games as a bit of fun, and concentrate on doing well in Serie A.

Its the first season in Napoli's history that they have competed in the Champions League, and the pressure is clearly taking its toll. Whilst coach Mazzari has tried to shuffle his team around after the intense European nights, the Partenopei have nearly always struggled to get results in the game that follows.

TRAPATTONI PICKS NAPOLI FOR THE TITLE

Ireland football coach Giovanni Trapattoni has said that there is every chance that Napoli can win the Scudetto this season, according to the Free Football Bets website.

Walter Mazzarri’s side are currently three points behind leaders AC Milan in the second place in the Italian top-flight, with just six more rounds of matches left in the league.

NAPOLI CLOSE ON MILAN

Napoli are still refusing to give up on the title race after being very close to AC Milan this weekend. They will be hoping for more good form from Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani, whose hat-trick on Sunday led them to a 3-0 win over Juventus.

The 23-year-old became the joint top scorer in Serie A with 13 goals as Napoli cut Milan's lead to just four points at the top of the league, after Massimiliano Allegri's side were held to a 4-4 draw at home by Udinese.

NAPOLI TO WIN A TROPHY

Cavani says that he is convinced that Napoli can win a silverware in 2011. The Uruguay international striker has played a big part in Napoli being second in Serie A at the winter break.

“The first half of the season has been very positive,” he said. “We are getting big results game after game.

“It's the fruit of our very tough daily work. The Napoli fans want players who put there spirit into it and always fight for the shirt on the pitch.

NAPOLI MOVE TO SECOND PLACE

Napoli are up to the second place in the Italian league after a win over Genoa. With Lavezzi out with an ankle injury and Serie A’s player strike called off on Thursday, Slovakia playmaker Hamsik met a Walter Gargano free-kick on 26 minutes in a match that, while initially controlled by Napoli, finished with the hosts - who missed half a dozen good chances to draw level - dominating play.
