LUCARELLI INJURED

Napoli striker Cristiano Lucarelli is injured and will be out until the new year. The 34-year-old, who joined the Campania based club on a season-long loan deal from Parma this summer, will undergo surgery on Monday.

The former Italy international was hurt late on in Thursday's goalless draw against Dutch outfit Utrecht in the Europa League Group K opener after coming on as a substitute. Napoli have not yet revealed for how long the journeyman player will be sidelined, although he is unlikely to play again in 2010.

A statement from the club read: "Cristiano Lucarelli underwent an MRI which showed cruciate ligament damage in his left knee. Lucarelli will have arthroscopic surgery on Monday."
