CAVANI WILL STAY

Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has said that he will not leave the club in the summer even if they failed to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Edinson Cavani has been linked with a move away from Napoli all through the season, and the rumours have certainly not been helped by the good performances of the striker in the Champions League this season. He almost helped Napoli get past Chelsea in the last 16 of the Champions League, while he is the second top scorer in the division with 19 league goals to his credit.

A few weeks ago, the Napoli president said that it would take a lot of money for Edinson Cavani to be bought from the club. He said that a figure in the region of € 100 million will be enough to persuade Napoli to sell their star striker. However, it is widely expected that Cavani will hand in a transfer request if Napoli try to block any move in the summer. Chelsea and Manchester City are expected to be the top clubs interested in the striker, while the likes of Tottenham have also shown interest. Lazio are currently in the third position and they have a three-point advantage over Napoli, which means that Napoli will be unable to qualify for next season's Champions League.

“My future does not depend at all on qualifying for the Champions League or not. I do not think about it. I will only say that I am happy here. I’m fine. My son was born in this city and the warmth of the people is unique. Sooner or later there will come a time [to leave], but for now I’m focused only on Napoli. The Champions League was a unique experience and we want to play in it again," he told Radio Marta.
