CAVANI WILL STAY

Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has said that he will not leave the club in the summer even if they failed to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Edinson Cavani has been linked with a move away from Napoli all through the season, and the rumours have certainly not been helped by the good performances of the striker in the Champions League this season. He almost helped Napoli get past Chelsea in the last 16 of the Champions League, while he is the second top scorer in the division with 19 league goals to his credit.

CAVANI BANNED FOR THREE MATCHES

Edinson Cavani has scored Napoli's 1000th goal and he has been banned for his bad celebration. All it took him were 25 matches to have his name carved into the annals of the club. When he scored a penalty against Roma, Edinson Cavani had hit Napoli's 1,000th away goal. It was a present he had given himself to celebrate his 24th birthday on St Valentine's Day. The date is only of interest to those who love statistics, because the Uruguayan's contribution to the club is impossible to calculate. He is the new king of Naples, undisputed idol of the supporters. His talent has brought the joy of seeing the club up there, challenging for the title in the name of the whole city. The night in the Olimpico Stadium just showed us how good he really is and how devastating he can be in the last 16 metres. He is well and truly a phenomenon and half the world is envious of Aurelio De Laurentiis.

"I preferred Napoli to Inter because of the support shown by the fans and the general public," Cavani said to TuttoNapoli.net.

"It is also bonus to work with [Ezequiel] Lavezzi and [Fabio] Quagliarella. We will form a great attacking line-up," he added.
